Of the fifty states only four are 100% helmet law free; Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, and New Hampshire. Of the other fourty-six states, twenty have full helmet laws for all motorcycle riders; nineteen states have helmet laws that exempt adult riders, riders age eighteen years old and over. There are seven states that discriminate against bikers between the ages of eighteen and twenty.
So, some states have motorcycle helmet laws while others don't. Some say it should be the riders choice. One of the joys of riding a motorcycle is the feeling of freedom, no restrictions! While helmets can be a restriction it is much safer to wear a helmet than not. Nothing against you as the rider; most motorcycle accidents happen due to other motorist.
Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) motorcycle helmets are safer because they must meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. You can identify these helmets by the D.O.T. sticker on the back of the helmet. Other labels to watch for, that meet the requirements are Snell and ANSI.
Just because they need to be D.O.T. doesn't mean they have to be boring! We offer a wide choice of designs on our helmets. Come on in, order a great looking helmet and ride safe!
