 Leather saddlebags were first known as a way for cowboys, or people from the old west, to carry their possessions on horseback. The bags were made to throw over the horses rump, one on each side. Today, in addition to using on your horse, they are used to throw over the back and hang on the sides of your motorcycle. Some motorcycles came from the manufactures with hard bags which are bolted on and these are great. However, if your bike doesn't come with these most leather saddlebags will fit your bike. Please be sure to measure and check out the bags you want before you purchase to make sure they'll fit your motorcycle. Saddlebags are great for carrying almost anything you need. When the weather is starting to change you may start your ride with your leather jacket and chaps but as the day warms up you may want to take those off. Without saddlebags you would have no place to store them so you would have to wear them all day. Then, into the late afternoon you may need them again.
Other leather bags you may want to invest in would be the tool bag, which fits on the handle bars of the bike and are great to store, tools, of course! Sissy bar bags are another one you may want; these go on the sissy bar and are good for storing smaller items you may need while on your ride.
